Mussels in St. John’s

This is not a travel blog, but I have to start at some point. This is my first entry…and I happen to be vacationing in St. John’s (Newfoundland and Labrador in Canada). So far, the most prominent dish is …anything fried! Well, there is seafood too, some fried, and some not. It is pretty difficult to eat well while on a holiday. Not impossible, but difficult.

I decided before this trip, that I wasn’t going to worry about how well I ate. Time to enjoy local food and drinks and have a good time. Once I get home, I will get back on track. Hmmm…this sounds familiar. I’ve done this before.  Many have laid the path before me.

We went to a local brewery/restaurant two days ago and had the BEST mussels so far. A really healthy portion for $13. Absolutely delicious. We sampled a few beers, and they were all excellent.

If you make it to St. John’s, you should definitely make this place, The Yellow Belly Brewery and Pub on Water St. , a must visit.
