Big Challenge-Not Being So Hard on Myself


In several recent conversations, I realized that I shouldn’t be so hard on myself.

Sound familiar? 

I feel this is the case with many, many people…especially women. I’m not sure where it comes from, but in the big scheme of life, it doesn’t matter.

What matters is the now, and what we do with it. You know the saying, “The firs step is awareness.” So very true. So, now I am aware.

Might be a good one to print out and post in one or more of these places:

a) bathroom mirror; b) fridge door; c) space close to where you do most of your work etc.

I think I am finally realizing that I really AM on a journey. Not a sprint, not even a 200 m run. This one will be more like a half marathon…and that’s ok!

Although I have always said out loud that losing weight and getting healthy takes time and really requires a lifestyle change…

…well, I have a confession to make–Deep down, I wanted it to happen fast. And deep down, I expected it to!

So, here I am at 48 years old, and I am finally figuring that out. It is ok to reach your goals over time. What’s the rush?

As long as you reach the goal, then 1 month, 6 months, 1 year or 3 years…it doesn’t matter. Most of all though, there is plenty of learning along the way…on the journey.
