Day 2 (Jan. 2)
Morning weight: down 3.6 pounds, which is mostly retained water that my body discarded.
Started the morning with a workout: 20 minutes HIIT on the treadmill, followed by 20 squats, 20 wall push-ups and 30 bicycle crunches.
After almost a litre of water I had a delicious fresh juice.
Morning Orangeshine-makes about 34 oz/ 1100 mL of juice
7 stalks celery
5 medium – large carrots
1.5 thumb-sized chunk of ginger
To make more of this juice, I would add one more cucumber and two more pears (I had only one ripe pear on hand today). More cucumber and pears would probably take me to 1300 mL.
Later in the day…
I had three smoothies, and of course, water.
I also took a 15 minute walk on the treadmill as I had been sitting most of the day.
For dinner, I made a salad with carrots, cauliflower and tomatoes. I used a homemade dressing by blending ¼ avocado, 1 cup of thawed frozen mango, a touch of salt, a bit of water and some crushed red chili peppers. A touch of fresh ground pepper, and voila, a delicious salad made from raw fruits and vegetables. No oil is needed in dressings!
About an hour after my dinner, I had a bowl of sliced banana with some raspberries.
I still craved something sweet, so I made ice cream by blending frozen bananas and frozen blueberries with a bit of water. Absolutely yummy! I forgot to take a picture, which is a shame because the ice cream was definitely photo-worthy!
I drank at least 2.5 L of water today and felt energetic, except for an hour or so when I was feeling a bit tired.
