Day 3 of 28 Day Raw Food Cleanse

Day 3 (Jan. 3)

Morning Weight: down 1 pound, with a total loss of 4.6 lbs since Day 1.

Started the morning with a workout: 20 minutes HIIT on the treadmill followed by: 12 lunges, 15 lat pull downs (weight machine that works the Latissimi dorsi muscle) and 40 oblique crunches (both sides).

A litre of water and later, some fabulous fresh green juice!


Morning Green Juice

9 stalks celery

2 cucumbers

1 stalk of broccoli

5 mandarin oranges

4 apples

This juice was delicious! Sweeter, and better than the green juice on Day 1.

Later, I made a wonderful green smoothie. I usually make enough to make about 3 jars, so I can drink one, and then take two with me to work or to have later in the day.


Spinach Mango Smoothie

4 leaves romaine

2 handfuls spinach

3 ripe bananas

2 cups frozen mango

3-4 cups of water

I had two of the smoothies in the afternoon.

For dinner, I made myself a raw zucchini dish, sometimes called zucchini pasta. I used a julienne peeler to peel one zucchini into long strips. I chopped up three mushrooms  and threw that on top of the zucchini.

For my “pasta” sauce, I blended 2 roma tomatoes, a small handful of parsley, one ring of red onion, 1/8 of an avocado, as well as a a bit of water and a little salt, pepper, dried basil and crushed chili peppers.


Get more specific details from the first time I ever made “pasta” from zucchini.

Another 2.5 L of water today.

No detox symptoms yet! This may be because I ate quite well for four days after Christmas and before New Years Eve. I had a strong headache for two of those four days.

I’m not complaining about not having any detox symptoms, but when you have some, you know you are cleaning out!

If I narrowed my cleanse down to include only smoothies and fresh juice, things would happen quicker, but I am not prepared to do that yet. Possibly for later in the cleanse. I’ll see how things go.
