Day 26 of 28 Day Raw Food Cleanse

Day 26 (Jan. 26)

Morning Weight: down .2 lb; with a total loss of 15.0 lbs since Day 1.

Made a green smoothie to start the day, followed by another one later on.

Lunch was a bowl of raspberries and blueberries.

Dinner was a salad with tomatoes, cabbage and raw corn from the cob. Dressing was just half an avocado, mushed up.

I just wasn’t that hungry today. I am still not feeling well.

I drank over a litre of water today.

Wishing you a healthy journey.

Day 24 of 28 Day Raw Food Cleanse

Day 24 (Jan. 24)

Morning Weight: no change; with a total loss of 14.6 lbs since Day 1.

The last 5 lbs of weight loss have been while I was sick and not eating a lot, so I can’t really count this weight loss as part of my cleanse, unless it is part of the detox. Hard to know.

I drank a big jar of smoothie in the morning. Later on, I had 4 oranges.

In the afternoon, my headaches seemed to be gone, and I gained a little bit of my energy back. I was able to do a couple of loads of laundry.

Towards dinner, my hubbie and I made a salad (first one I’v had in days-just didn’t feel like it, being sick). In we put: tomato, red onion, arugula, fresh cob corn, green pepper, cabbage and avocado. The dressing was blended mango, cilantro, water, garlic, ginger and sea salt.

Then I ate a small bowl of raspberries.

Today, I drank 1.5 litres of water…yay…getting closer to my normal intake.

Wishing you a healthy journey.

Day 23 (Jan. 23)

Morning Weight: down 2.8, with a total loss of 14.6 lbs since Day 1.

Weird to see so much weight loss in one day after eating little and just lying around.

Today I started my day with a trip to a walk-in clinic. This is my third day in a row of missing work, and my employer requires a doctor’s note for three days or more of missed work. So, I got to sit in a waiting room for almost two hours…definitely not fun when you are sick.

I had a green smoothie in the morning, followed by another smoothie and broth during the day. I also ate a bowl of raspberries and blueberries.

I feel just awful. My chest is congested, so I am coughing a lot, which is painful and just gross. I also have quite a headache that comes and goes and lasts for varying amounts of time. I would say that on this day, the headache occurred for about 70% of the time.

I am assuming that what I have is some kind of virus, although the thought has crossed my mind that it could also be detox. The body gets rid of toxins through the lungs too. The headaches remind me of detox and because they aren’t going away, that makes me wonder too.

I am not taking any over the counter medication because of a few reasons:

  1. If I take a Tylenol, for instance, and my headache goes away, I may have relief of the symptom, but then I do not know what is going on with my body. I won’t know if it would still be giving me headaches. My body is working to fight whatever virus, toxin etc. is in there, and the body usually can do a good job on its own. I don’t want to interfere with my body’s natural ability to heal itself by adding more toxins.
  2. I’m on a cleanse, and the last thing I want to do is put over the counter medication or any prescription drugs into my body! I would rather suffer. Of course, if I felt I just HAD to take something, I would.

Today, I pushed myself to drink more water, I think I drank about ¾ of a litre.

Wishing you a healthy journey.

Day 22 of 28 Day Raw Food Cleanse

Day 22 (Jan. 22)

Morning Weight: down 1.8, with a total loss of 11.8 lbs since Day 1.

I was in bed all day yesterday, and didn’t eat much, so that is likely why my weight went down almost two pounds.

I had a big cup of my homemade broth, followed shortly after by a blueberry, banana and arugula smoothie.

I know that the broth is not part of my cleanse, but while being sick, my body just seems to want it. The broth is esay to digest, so I think it will be an ok, temporary addition to my cleanse.

I can’t remember the rest of what I ate, but just more of the same broth and smoothies.

Today was especially tough; being sick, I didn’t feel like eating much, nor did I drink much water.

Wishing you a healthy journey,

Day 21 of 28 Day Raw Food Cleanse

Day 21 (Jan. 21)

Morning Weight: down .4, with a total loss of 10.0 lbs since Day 1.

I was home today, sick, so I did not follow my usual routine.

I started my day with a green smoothie (collard greens, arugula, banana and frozen pineapple).

Throughout the day, I had three big cups of broth and then a banana and blueberry smoothie.

Not much of an appetite today and drank little water.

Day 20 of 28 Day Raw Food Cleanse

Day 20 (Jan. 20)

Morning Weight: down .8, with a total loss of 9.6 lbs since Day 1.

I felt sick today with something developing in my chest. Coughing and not pleasant.

I had my fresh juice in the morning, followed by a day with 2 smoothies and a very basic salad of spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, red onions, balsamic vinegar.

Today, I veered off my “raw” part of the cleanse by having 2 bowls of the broth portion of a low-fat and dairy-free borscht. It was so tasty.

I was so inspired by my lunch broth that I went home after work and made my own veggie broth. Loved it. In the pot I threw some carrots, celery, mushrooms, onions, beets, garlic, celery salt, cumin, basil, cayenne, sea salt, and fresh ground pepper. I had three large cups of it, with enough left over to enjoy a bowl tomorrow.

The broth was so tasty and especially soothing to my growing sore throat and cough.

For dessert I had some banana, raspberries and blueberries.

I had about half a litre of water today.

Wishing you a healthy journey.

Day 18 of 28 Day Raw Food Cleanse

Day 18 (Jan. 18)

Morning Weight: up.8 lb, with a total loss of 9.0 lbs since Day 1.

I woke up in the middle of the night with a stuffy nose. I figured that my body wasn’t enjoying that salad dressing and cheese I ate last night. Or, it was a cold coming on. In the morning, it was gone, so I am confident that it was my body trying to push out the toxins in the food I ate.

Had a big sleep-in this morning, followed by a delicious fresh juice with celery, cucumber, apples, beets, collard green leaf and half a lime.

After drinking my juice, I got a little bit of a headache…hmmm…probably my body reacting to that dressing and cheese I ate last night. My body is trying to get the stuff out.

Later, I had a super green smoothie. I call is super green because I put in spirulina powder, a blue green algae that is rich in nutrients (protein, B12, enzymes, Vitamin K and others, fatty acids –GLA-, iodine, calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium, manganese, potassium and zinc). Now, it is debatable whether spirulina has a form of B12 that the body can use, but either way, it seems to have enough of a nutrition punch that I will use it a few times a week.

In the afternoon, I had a fruit smoothie with bananas, mixed berries and a little romaine lettuce

For dinner I made a big salad with: cabbage, kale, rainbow chard, tomato, red onion, avocado, pear, and capers with a dressing of blended mango, parsley and sea salt.

Dessert was raspberries and blueberries.

I drank maybe half a litre of water today.

Wishing you a healthy journey.
